I’ve lived in Virginia since 1960 and all but seven of those years in Central Virginia. In the past I’ve posted about real estate for sale, interesting events and places in Virginia, plus real estate tips. The beauty of Virginia remains surpassed only by the great people who make Central Virginia home. While checking e-mails and enjoy my morning coffee, I saw a great story on Channel 29 (local NBC affiliate) on the Thompson-Hall Fraternal Order of Police Lodge (FOP) helping one of their members. Wow, what a great story! As a police officer and family had gotten behind on their mortgage due to health issues, the FOP Lodge got together raising $25,000 to help out as he undergoes surgery and cancer treatment. Thank you to our great neighbors who serve and protect us, for stepping forward helping one of their own and to NBC 29 for showcasing their efforts. President Bob Romanac and all the FOP member should be thanked for their efforts! If you see them in your travels, please stop and thank them. The great people like Bob and our local police forces provide just one more reason why the quality of life remains fantastic in Charlottesville, Virginia and the surrounding Counties!
Oh yea, I need to include a disclaimer: I’m an affiliate member of Thompson Hall FOP Lodge and President Bob Romanac remains one of my good friends. If you are interested in joining the FOP as an affiliate member or making a donation to help support these great community citizens, please visit the local FOP web site or do not hesitate in contacting me, James@VirginiaHomesFarmsLand.com You get more by giving back to your community!
This article was written about me and my illness. I have truly been blessed by the kindness of my fellow Brothers and Sisters in Law Enforcement as well as the compassion of the community. I have been battling stage 4 cancer since 2008 and will not give up fighting for a cure. If it had not been for the FOP Lodge #5 and Bob Romanac, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I still have another surgery scheduled this month but know I will come out on the winning end of this ordeal.
Thanks to all the wonderful people who have helped me and I pray that if someone else ends up in a similar circumstance, they will be as BLESSED as me.
Thanks for the great article.
Sincerely, Wayne Bettinger
Wayne,
